Big Malls and Tall Buildings

Beth joined me in Dubai on Thursday evening when she finished work for an NYU alumni event at the Shangri-La Hotel. The hotel is quite close to the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, so I got some good pictures of it as the sun started to set.

We spent Saturday doing what any self-respecting person in the UAE would do… walking around the mall. But these weren’t just any malls, these were two of the biggest malls in the world. Our first stop was the Mall of the Emirates—home to Ski Dubai, the world’s largest indoor Ski Resort. Then, we took the Metro to the Dubai Mall—one of the largest malls in the whole world, it features its own aquarium and is the entrance point to the observation platform at the top of the Burj Khalifa. They also hired the famous designers who built the fountain at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas to construct a massive fountain outside the mall. Starting at 4pm every day synchronized fountain shows begin every 30 minutes.
